In plain language: use TheRouteStory safely, only upload content you have the right to use, review journeys before publishing, and never interact with the app while driving. Route films and maps depend on GPS, network and third-party services and may not always be available or exact.

1. Acceptance of these Terms

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) form an agreement between you and RouteBeats Technologies, a sole proprietorship registered in India under Udyam Registration No. UDYAM-OD-03-0102868, whose place of business is Baleshwar 756001, Odisha, India. RouteBeats Technologies operates TheRouteStory, and is referred to in these Terms as “TheRouteStory”, “we”, “us” or “our”. These Terms govern your use of the mobile application, website and related services (together, the “Service”).

By creating an account, accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into this agreement, or use the Service with the valid involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian where applicable. You agree to provide accurate information and keep it current.

You are responsible for safeguarding your device and account credentials and for activity under your account. Do not share passwords or authentication codes. Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission. One person may not impersonate another or create an account using information they are not authorised to use.

3. Journey recording, permissions and safety

Core features require device permissions such as precise location, photos, camera, notifications or local storage. You decide whether to grant those permissions, but some features will not work without them.

  • Route information may be incomplete or inaccurate because of terrain, weather, tunnels, battery restrictions, device sensors, signal conditions or permission settings.
  • Do not operate, view or interact with the Service while driving, cycling or in any situation where distraction creates a risk. Stop safely before using the app.
  • The Service is a travel-memory tool, not a navigation, emergency, rescue, fitness, surveying or safety service. Never rely on it for directions, emergency response or proof of your precise location.
  • You are responsible for complying with local rules, access restrictions, photography restrictions and safety guidance during a journey.

4. Your content and responsibilities

You retain ownership of the photographs, videos, notes, route details and other content you submit (“User Content”). You represent that you own or have all permissions needed to use that content and that it does not violate law, privacy, publicity, copyright or other rights.

You grant TheRouteStory a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, process, adapt and display User Content only as needed to operate, secure and improve the Service, create outputs you request, and make content available according to your sharing choices. This licence ends when the content is deleted from active systems, except where limited retention is technically or legally necessary.

You are responsible for backing up important original media. The Service should not be treated as your only archive.

5. Explore and external sharing

If you publish a journey to Explore, you direct us to make the selected journey and associated profile information available to other users. Other users may view, like and share it through available features. Review your route and media before publishing, especially for home addresses, private locations, faces and identifying details.

When you export or share content to another app or service, that provider’s terms and privacy rules apply. We do not control copies saved or redistributed outside TheRouteStory. You can remove your content from future display in our Service, but removal may not recall copies already shared by others.

6. Maps, journals and generated route films

Map images, place names, routes, travel books, PDF exports and films may be generated using GPS data, your media and third-party systems. Outputs are creative representations and can contain omissions, visual approximations, delayed updates or location errors.

Generation depends on sufficient route data, compatible media, network access, map or geocoding providers, cloud storage and rendering capacity. A job may be delayed, retried, limited or unsuccessful. We do not guarantee that every journey can be rendered, that an output will meet a particular creative expectation, or that a third-party map or place label is accurate.

A route film or exported book you download still contains map imagery licensed from its provider, and the provider’s terms continue to apply when you share or republish it. The credit drawn on the imagery must not be removed or obscured. This does not affect your ownership of your own photographs, notes and route.

7. Prohibited conduct

You must not:

  • Upload unlawful, abusive, threatening, exploitative, deceptive, obscene or privacy-violating content.
  • Publish another person’s precise location, private information, face or property without an appropriate legal basis or permission.
  • Infringe intellectual property or other rights, impersonate others, manipulate engagement or misrepresent a journey.
  • Probe, disrupt, overload or bypass the Service, its security controls, usage limits or access restrictions.
  • Use bots, scrapers or automated means to access the Service without written permission.
  • Reverse engineer the Service except where applicable law expressly permits it.
  • Use the Service to facilitate unlawful activity, stalking, harassment or unsafe conduct.

We operate a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content and abusive users. Content that breaches this section is removed, and the accounts responsible may be suspended or terminated. We may also remove content or restrict access whenever we reasonably believe these Terms, the law or user safety require it.

Some removals are on a clock set by law. Where we receive a court order or a notification from an authorised government agency, we remove or disable access to the content named within 36 hours. Where someone complains that content shows a person’s private areas, shows them in a sexual act, or impersonates them — including an artificially altered or morphed image — we remove it within 24 hours of the complaint. Report either through the Grievance Officer named below, or through the report action on the journey itself.

8. TheRouteStory intellectual property

The Service, including its software, visual design, brand, logos, text, templates and features, is owned by or licensed to TheRouteStory and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service for its intended purpose. No ownership rights are transferred to you.

The name “TheRouteStory™” and the RouteStory logo are trade marks of RouteBeats Technologies. An application to register the word mark is pending before the Trade Marks Registry in Class 42 under application number 7980983, filed on 7 September 2026. You may not use these marks, or anything confusingly similar to them, without our written permission.

Feedback and suggestions may be used by us without restriction or compensation, provided we do not identify you publicly without permission.

9. Availability, updates and changes

We may add, change, suspend or discontinue features, impose reasonable limits, release updates or change device requirements. We aim to operate a reliable Service but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free access. Maintenance, security events, provider outages and circumstances beyond our control may affect availability.

You are responsible for installing supported updates and maintaining a compatible device, operating system, network connection and sufficient storage or battery capacity.

10. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy and uninterrupted availability. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or warranties that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Travel and outdoor activity involve inherent risks. You remain responsible for route planning, weather checks, permissions, transport condition, personal safety and emergency preparation.

11. Limitation of liability and indemnity

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, TheRouteStory and its service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill or opportunities arising from use of or inability to use the Service.

We are not responsible for loss caused by inaccurate GPS or map information, unsafe travel choices, third-party services, external sharing, unauthorised account access caused by your failure to secure credentials, or loss of User Content where reasonable backup options were available. These limitations apply only to the extent permitted by law and do not limit liability that cannot legally be limited.

You agree to indemnify and hold TheRouteStory harmless against claims, demands, losses and reasonable costs brought by a third party and arising from content you submit or publish, from your use of the Service in breach of these Terms, or from your infringement of another person’s rights. We will tell you promptly of any such claim and will not settle it without consulting you. This obligation applies only to the extent permitted by applicable law, and does not apply to loss caused by our own breach, negligence or wrongful act.

12. Account deletion, suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and may delete your account through the profile screen. We may suspend or terminate access, remove content or preserve relevant records if we reasonably believe there is a serious or repeated breach of these Terms, risk to users or the Service, fraud, unlawful activity, or a legal requirement.

Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including ownership, disclaimers, liability limitations and dispute provisions, will continue to apply.

13. Changes, governing law and general terms

We may update these Terms to reflect Service or legal changes. We will update the date above and provide additional notice for material changes where reasonably practicable. Continued use after revised Terms take effect means you accept them.

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Courts with appropriate jurisdiction in India will have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer rights or dispute process that applies to you.

If part of these Terms is unenforceable, the remainder continues in effect. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent; we may transfer them as part of a business reorganisation or transfer of the Service.

14. Apple App Store

This section applies only to the version of the Service obtained from the Apple App Store, and only to the extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing in it limits or excludes any right or remedy available to you under Indian consumer protection law, or under any other law, that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.

These Terms are between you and TheRouteStory only, not with Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the Service or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the Service.

If the Service fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. The Service is supplied free of charge, so no purchase price arises. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation in respect of the Service.

TheRouteStory, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claim relating to the Service, including product liability claims, any claim that the Service fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation. TheRouteStory, not Apple, is responsible for investigating and resolving any third-party claim that the Service infringes intellectual property rights.

You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as terrorist-supporting, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You must comply with any third-party terms that apply when you use the Service.

Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, to the extent permitted by applicable law, may enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary. Your rights under Indian law, including your right to approach a consumer forum or other competent authority, are unaffected by this section.

15. Support and grievances

Questions, complaints and grievances about the Service or these Terms can be sent to the Grievance Officer below. Include your account email and a clear description of the issue. Do not include passwords or authentication codes.

We acknowledge every grievance within 24 hours of receiving it and work to resolve it within 15 days, the period allowed by the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. Where a complaint needs longer — for example where it depends on a third party or on information we have to ask you for — we will tell you why and when you can expect a resolution.
